Hey all!!! As the picture shows My Crimson Clover is a contributor to the 2016 Afghan Sampler Crochet Along hosted by Tanya Naser, owner of HodgePodge Crochet. This is a most fun CAL due to the wide variety of what the various talented designers have come up with for these squares!

MCC has designed a sampler square named Bow Ties Are Cool and can be found on the Hodge Podge Crochet Blog Ravelry, or Craftsy. This square is a beginner level experience. And will not take long at all to complete 🙂 Here is a sample of my square!

All of the squares of this CAL had to follow certain parameters so that connecting the various squares would be easily connected.

Hectic Days

We (by we I mean me lol) are coming up on Oktoberfest here in the Augusta, GA area. I have an event scheduled for the first weekend of October and that means that this next week I’ll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off! My Event buddy will no longer be with me because she has had to move and is no longer anywhere close to us. *sad face* but that frees up a table in my space to really spread out (which is a little exciting!)

At the event I plan on having the Lotion/Lip balms/Dry Skin Salves out as usual. Also I’ll be featuring the ever popular Ouch Pouch (Heating/Cold Packs) all sizes available. I will also have the starting stock of cozy infinity scarves and cowls because you know “Winter is Coming” and it is never too early to start holiday shopping for your loved ones (or yourself.)  This is also always the option to place a custom order, you pay for your order we work out the details I’ll give you a creation timeline and either set up details to drop it off for you or ship it to where you need it to go! I aim to have customer satisfaction!

If you are going to be in the Fort Gordon (Augusta, GA) area on October 2 & 3 feel free to come out and enjoy the festivities! You’ll have Vendor Village to stroll through (‘ll be set up under the big tent), a flea market to possibly find some deals on things people no longer need, shows to take in, food to enjoy, and I believe there will even be a carnival (at least there was one last year!) Oct 2 we will be open from 4pm – 8pm and on the 3rd we will be open from 9am – 6pm. Even though we will  be located on a military post, this event is open to the public!

I hope to see you out there and if you see me out and about don’t’ mind me, I”m just the crazy lady trying to pull everything together in the last few days 🙂

Till next time!

Pattern – Aztec Afghan Square! KCACO-UK: CAL – 2015

Aztec Afghan Square

Aztec Afghan Square

Hello everyone! So I’ve been designing a few things over the past few months. At the beginning of the year Heather, Owner of Keep Calm and Crochet On UK put out feelers to designers to see if we wanted to be a part of her Crochet Along for 2015.  I was super happy to ask and accepted to participate. Over a couple months I designed this square and had it tested but due to family surgeries and unforeseen family complications my square kept having to be pushed back pushed back and pushed back some more, but Heather was very accommodating and understanding. Finally the corrections were made, suggestions were implemented and the final test occurred. FINISHED!!!!! WOOT!!!! The Aztec Afghan Square was released the last few days of August and was released to the CAL on September 2nd. If you would like to join the KCACO-UK 2015 CAL you can find the group/community here on FaceBook. If you would like to check out Heather’s Blog for KCACO-UK Click Here!

You can also click Ravelry or Craftsy to get to this pattern! I hope you enjoy!

Behind the Scenes

It’s been a few days since I’ve last posted and I wanted to show you all what I have been working on!

Coming up is Military Spouse Appreciation Day. I never knew that this day existed until I became a military spouse and I’m happy that it does! It can be difficult for families/spouse of military member and so I’m happy that there is events and days that acknowledge the struggles that some face. As I was perusing the many posts of FaceBook land, I came across a post on one of the spouse pages for our current base. This post was asking if there were any small businesses or home businesses that would like to put their cards into the gift bags for the appreciation day events. So I contacted the lady and said I have samples and cards if you would like and she accepted! So now I’m in the process of putting together Plain Jane Lip Balm samples for the event. I believe they are putting together around 300 gift bags. This is the first time I’ll be offering samples of my lip balm and am super excited! Here is a sneak peak of the samples (before the labels):

Due to the expansion of MCC (My Crimson Clover) it seems as though I need new business cards. The hubby brought this to my attention when handing out my card to a work colleague.  This is the third or fourth redesign of this current card but I like it now and it’s off to the printers. Here is a sneak peak:

I’m also signed up for the local events on the Fort Gordon base! I was recently given the opportunity to have an advertisement sponsored for MCC in a local child pageant booklet. So I gratefully accepted and quickly got on to designing the ad! Here is that:

So I’ve been doing all this as well as continuing to make product and helping my friend (and she has been helping me too) get her business online! We just finished opening her Etsy shop (which now we have to actually finish editing photos and put them up on her site.) You can find her shop here: Fairly Odd Fairytales Don’t mind the test listing on the shop she will be putting up the actual listings of all her awesome products soon (as soon as I finish editing the photos!)  Also we’ve been hard at work designing her logo (her designing and me putting it to the computer and fixing it to the digital designs) Late last night after finishing my business card we did her card!

Good News All Around!

Today is a good day!

It started out with Rolling out of bed and realizing one of the children had to stay home today due to getting sick last night. After the groggy (almost tripping over my own feet) bathroom ritual I get the other 3 kids off to school. Like any other day I warm up and talk crafts and other BS with my neighbor and come home to deal with sickko who isn’t really even sick anymore…. (school policy *rolls eyes* she over ate but whatever)

She’s completely done with breakfast, wide awake and entertaining herself on the couch so I drag my bum back to bed and fall back to sleep. See something you may not know about me is that my sleep schedule is naturally during the day. I have always wanted to stay up late and sleep through the morning into the afternoon. Well after having kids the insomnia (or what was thought to be insomnia) added with the colicky twins it was suggested I go get a sleep study. Which I did. Come to find out I don’t have insomnia. I don’t have sleep apnea. I don’t have anything abnormal that would hinder me to sleep. BUT what I do have is a screwed up internal clock! So basically when everyone is about to wake up in the morning my melatonin is released and I’m ready for bed. I’m a natural Night Owl. “Is that your official diagnosis doctor? Night Owl?” was my response to which he threw a lot of technical terms at me and said I could try to retrain my body but when I went through adolescence  my internal clock reset to a later time than others.

So fast forward after my nap and errands, on the way home I get a call from my mother in law that my niece (she has guardianship over my nieces) has beat Hodgkin’s lymphoma!!!! She has been through quite the trial over the past several months. She was diagnosed and went through her first chemo therapy sessions and it didn’t work. So for the second set of treatments it was a more targeted and a stronger chemo. Well she just got the results back and she is cancer FREE. She is such an inspiration and I am so proud of her!

Now I’m off to format my next pattern! And hopefully release it into testing!!!!!

And a little eye candy

Dual fabric and lace scarf - featuring thin snuggly fleece fabric navy and navy and grey argyle pattern with 2 kinds of white crochet lace.

New and Exciting

In the world of MCC it has been pretty slow. I won’t lie, from the looks of it, from an outsiders view, MCC looks as if it has died. A horrible slow agonizing death.

Behind the scenes it’s been crazy busy. First we moved from Maryland to Georgia (thanks to the hubby being in the Air Force this is the life we lead with picking up and moving every couple of years starting anew.) Since this was my first major move with being a military spouse it was a whole new experience for me. One that I have learned a great deal from and hope that I won’t repeat those mistakes again. We’ve been here for a year and a half and I think I’m finally recovered from that move LOL (key words…. I think 🙂  and hope.)

Next I started getting feelers for what’s available around here for my business. I enjoyed a day of walking around Hearts in the Arts event when we first arrived (and plan to hopefully put in an application for this years event.) I have also connected with the event coordinator for Fort Gordon. Last October I did the Oktoberfest on base as well as the Christmas event. I’ve learned a great deal about how to deal with events, setups, displays, supply, demand, and a many other things that are just not interesting enough to put in here.

So I guess you could say that this past year and a half has been a huge recovery, learning, and rush for creating product craze.

This year is a little more relaxed as I have somewhat of an idea how to go about reviving MCC. Like the header says NEW AND EXCITING!!!! I’m glad to announce that I have gotten into making all natural health and beauty products and will also be sharing tips and tricks to making your household free from chemical cleaners. I have also learned how to sew! (My mom is happy about this! She tried to teach me when I was younger but I just don’t think I was interested in it enough to really get into it. Sorry mom.) With sewing I’ve opened a lot of new exciting products from Designer Infinity Scarves to our new line The Ouch Pouch. I spent this past Christmas time working on my sewing by making Tilda creations like her ballerina stocking, nutcracker stocking, and woodland animals. Let me tell you these Tilda doll creations are super-duper cute!!! (I say this as my friend is putting the patterns of her book on card board making an easier template, which I totally recommend doing if you plan on making them.)

I’ve been asked to design a square for a fellow crochet designers Crochet-A-Long. You may be familiar with Heather from Keep Calm and Crochet On UK. If you are you have probably heard about her 2015 CAL. This is the CAL that I’m in the midst of designing the square. So far I’ve gotten good feedback of the design, now I’m actually getting the pattern written down and worked up with 5 multiple colors. It still needs to be revised, formatted digitally, and tested and then released for the CAL (if it gets the final approval) but I’m happy to be designing again! Getting those creative juices flowing! Pictures to come! Check out KCACO-UK’s Blog and her Facebook Group if you are interested in joining her CAL!

Well I’m off for now, must get stuff done. Stuff = Life…. Peace, Love, and Happiness.
